Custom LoRa SoC Design & Development

Engineered a custom LoRa module based on the Semtech SX1276 chipset for Indian frequency bands.

The client needed to enable LoRa connectivity across their existing device line for long-range, low-power communication, specifically for deployment in India. However, the existing solutions were either:

• Not compliant with WPC ETA (India-specific) regulations

• Lacked proper RF certification

• Didn't allow modular integration with embedded platforms and with LoRa gateways. They needed a custom, certified LoRa module that could seamlessly integrate with embedded platforms while ensuring regulatory approval and RF performance compliance.

Our Solution

We engineered a custom LoRa module based on the Semtech SX1276 chipset tailored for Indian frequency bands (865–867 MHz). Our team handled the entire hardware and firmware design, including:

🔧 Embedded Engineering

  • Selected and integrated the SX1276 transceiver
  • Designed firmware for LoRa communication bare-metal C
  • Implemented low-power modes, interrupt-based wake-up, and OTA-ready stack

📡 RF & Certification

  • Performed RF tuning and optimization for antenna and PCB layout
  • Passed WPC ETA requirements for India
  • Successfully certified the device via TÜV Rheinland for both RF compliance and safety standards

🔌 System Integration

  • Designed the module as a plug-and-play SoC extension
  • Allowed seamless integration into existing devices to make them LoRa compliant
  • Provided SDK and documentation for faster client integration
