Holistic IoT solution for postal services.

Legacy postal collection systems rely on fixed schedules and manual checks, leading to inefficiencies and missed pickups.

To modernize this process, we implemented an IoT-enabled Smart Post Box Monitoring (SBM) system. Each post box is equipped with a compact, low-power sensor device that tracks the utilization status and transmits data over NB-IoT (Quectel BG96). The hardware is built on STM32 microcontrollers with long battery life.

The collected data is sent to a MERN stack-based IoT Cloud Platform, where postal administrators can access a comprehensive admin dashboard. A native mobile app (Android & iOS) offers a postman view with actionable insights and optimized routes for collections based on real-time post box fill levels.

Problem Statement

Postal networks lacked visibility into field assets, resulting in:

• Unnecessary and inefficient collection trips
• Overflowing or underutilized post boxes
• No real-time monitoring or visualization
• No route optimization for postmen
• Poor decision-making due to lack of data
